Truckers Experience

A trucker, upon reading this journal, notified me through through the Fate forum. He had correctly guessed what village I was writing about. Said he had a most puzzling experience in this same village a few years back. At that time he trucked grocery items to small independent grocery stores throughout this region of the state. On one occasion, he was running way early on his route, it was snowing and the roads were bad when he pulled into the parking yard of the local grocery. As the grocery was not yet open, he figured he'd have a cup of coffee from his thermos and wait ti he saw lights come on in the store. He said he was about 30 minutes too early. As he sat there, he saw a form coming toward the truck and when it approached the side of the truck he rolled down the window to see what was wanted. A young lady, probably in her late teens, or early 20s, dressed lightly with just a sweater over a dress, asked him if he knew when the store would open. He looked at his watch and said in about 15 minutes, when he looked up she wasn't there. He looked all around, no sign of her. Perplexed, he got out of the truck to see what on earthg had happened to her. There were no tracks in the snow. He says that is one experience he will never forget.

Can of Nuts reappear

The missing can of nuts reappeared in the den, on top of the air cleaner, in plain sight. Gone for several days, they reappear right where they couldn't be missed. Now if that darned address book would just reappear. These disappearances and reappearances occur frenquently in this house. The main bone of contention is that the disappearences occur at a time when an object is actually in use. The nuts were being snacked while worked the computer; then they weren't there anymore, nor could I find them. Then suddenly they are on the air cleaner in the next room in plain sight. I'll be working with a tool, I'll lay it down, continuing working on the project. Reach for the tool  again and its no where to be seen. Several days laters it shows up in the middle of the back stairs or in another room in the middle of the floor. Old Houses can be exasperating.

Disappearing Can of Nuts

A couple of days ago, I was sitting at the computer reading some Email. I was eating from a can of cinnamon and sugar coated pecans. I figured I'd had evough so I replaced the lid on the can and set it down beside the computer and continued to read the mail. A few minutes went by, maybe an hour, because I had shifted to reading blurbs from the Fortean Times website. I reached for the can of nuts and it wasn't there. I'm the only one in the house, except for my pup, who was sound asleep in the doorway between the diningroom and library. I checked all around the computer, on the floor, in back of the computer, the whole vicinity. Discusted, I went back and completed my time on the computer. After I had closed down the computer, I rechecked for that blamed can of nuts, no luck. I even went over the whole library, no can of nuts. If  I'd been looking for something really small I could understand overlooking it; but these nut cans are about 5 inches across at the top and probably about 5 inches deep. How could anything that large (9 ozs.) not be in plain sight? This happens frequently with tools, and the address book has yet to make a reappearance. This is the first food type item to disappear since a three pound, uncooked, roast disappeared from the refrigerator several years back. It never reappeared either. There are times that this house is frustrating.

Loud crash again

It happened again last night about 10pm. I was sitting in the den reading; my wife was using the computer in the library when a crash resounded throughout the house. This crash actually shook the house and jarred the cup I had on a stand beside the chair. A thorough search of the house and grounds revealed nothing, as usual. But the physical effects of whatever were certainly visible at the time. The pup heard it, ran to the western side of the diningroom. Certainly nothing visible in that area either.
